Carina's vacation

Santa Cruz

Aidan's first roller-coaster ride

We have had the most amazing vacation ever... right here in San Francisco! We kept busy doing lots of things in the Bay Area... the Oakland Zoo, Tilden Park in Berkeley, Tiburon, the Rinconada Pool in Palo Alto, and the Sacramento Train Museum (complete with an Amtrak train ride there & back!) We have enjoyed the sunshine... and more than anything, enjoyed each other. Aidan is really becoming his own little person...talking a LOT, having his own opinions, and doing things himself! We were lucky to have our friends and family visit as well. Here are some pictures from our recent adventures!

Aidan at 27 months

Aidan is now 2 years, 3 months old! Here are a few pictures from our May/June adventures.

He is becoming more independent now- potty training (insisting on "privacy" and a "magazine" while he does--see below!), helping set the table (his job is the napkins), helping with dressing (he insists on choosing his clothes.) Aidan even had his first swim lesson without us in the pool.... he LOVED it.

He has also developed quite a sense of humor. For example, instead of "high five" he recently came up with "high foot!" and insists on "high-footing" us with every little accomplishment.

He really enjoyed spending time with Auntie Janet and Uncle Dick, who visited last week from Florida, and made them laugh with his requests for "more canteloupe" and demands to "Play, play!" with him-- not on the couch, but on the "floor, floor!"

Aunt Dorothy aslo visited, and she was quite entertained by his running around singing ABCs non-stop, playing hide and seek, etc. We've been going to places like pier 39 and riding on the carousel.

We recently went to Bakersfield and a had a great visit with James' family and also went to his high school reunion. Here are some pictures with Aidan's cousin Aubrey (they are 10 days apart), his aunts/cousins, his grandparents, and his great grandma as well.

Today we will celebrate Father's day! Can't believe it's already James' third! His dad will be in town and we're all having a BBQ to celebrate. James and Aidan have even been having fun hitting/throwing a baseball around at a field a few blocks from our house. Above is a picture of the baseball field where James used to play baseball as a kid... very nostalgic!

We are also enjoying a visit from my mom's friends Kris and Julie (from work) as well as my friend Gareth from Riverside. Amber, Alison and Cheryl might come in August too!

And most of all, we're looking forward to almost 2 weeks off (starting today!) after finishing intern year yesterday!!! Below are some pictures of us celebrating on Friday night.

We'll be enjoying a mostly "stay-cation" and may take little trips around the bay area, but are happy to enjoy our own city and spend some time together! I just want to sit around, play with Aidan, take walks, and enjoy life a bit.
I also need to get caught up on photo albums, organizing toys, etc... and remember to relax a little myself too!

Well, more updates to come as always. Love to everyone, and Happy Father's Day to the dads out there.
